Hi guys, thank you for coming back to the channel. We will be discussing about figs, the sweet and nutritious fruit, which are rich in fibre, vitamins and minerals today. We will be talking about much of its health benefits, its nutrition sheets and some side effects. Let's get started.

Rich in Nutrients.

Figs are rich in nutrients (vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber), and are among the healthiest fruits to include in your diet. They are rich in fiber, potassium, calcium, magnesium, copper, vitamins B6 and K; all of which are vital for health. They are essential nutrients for proper digestion, bones, muscles and nerves as well as for a good heart. Any portion of fresh or dried figs is loaded with some of the body's natural foods, minerals and antioxidants. If you're looking to eat something healthy without having to pick up a lot of processed snack foods, try eating figs instead.

Supports Digestion.

Fruits are high in fibre and can help maintain a healthy digestive system. Fiber will cause a fuller stool and aid in the easy movement of food through the bowel. This may help reduce the constipation and regular bowel movements. This is the sole reason why many people eat soaked figs in the morning.

It's beneficial for the heart.

Figs are rich in potassium that has a beneficial effect on blood pressure. In addition, they contain antioxidants that help to prevent damage to your blood vessels. Regular consumption of figs has been reported to reduce the levels of bad cholesterol, promoting heart health in the long run.

Helps Control Blood Sugar.

The fig is sweet by itself, but is low to medium glycemic if eaten in moderation. Fibre slows down the release of sugar into the blood stream. The good news is this: For those who tend to consume a lot of sweets, this can be a more favorable alternative to the majority of processed sweets.

Strengthens Bones.

The minerals in a fig are important for the strength of bones (calcium and magnesium). Fruits such as figs are a good source of calcium and people who don't eat a lot of dairy can benefit from regular calcium intake.

Boosts Skin Health.

An antioxidants which is present in figs are polyphenols and vitamin C. These can be used to neutralise free radicals that do wreak havoc on skin cells. Eating figs on a regular basis may be effective for long-term healthy skin.

What you need to know about Side Effects.

Figs are a good food, but eating too many may cause problems. Because of the high fiber content, eating excess figs may lead to stomach cramps, bloating or diarrhea. Dried Figs have more of the natural sugars in them, and this is not good for diabetics. Moreover, figs can interact with blood-thinning medications, so, if you are on medications, seek the advice of a doctor.
